The duality of being both educator and parent to our autistic son has provided a unique experience to supporting an autistic child in an early learning program and going through the diagnosis journey. In this presentation I share our personal experience of both these roles and how to build better relationships with families and create an inclusive setting.
Knowing you big picture vision helps you identify your values and to reflect on how they play out in your everyday practice. I'll guide you to curate your early years vision and then use this to intentionally write goals and create a learning plan that will support you and your team now and into the future.
Play is how children make sense of their world and the magic of loose parts play is essential for children to explore, invent and discover their world. From my personal experience, loose parts play helped me connect with our autistic son, find clarity in my role, holistically nurture children's development and build trust with the families like I've never experienced. Loose parts play and my strong image of the child is how this all came about.

Veronica's insight and innovative ideas regarding supports for children with sensory needs gave me so much new perspective and inspiration to bring back to my own classroom and teaching practice. Veronica’s passion for early learning radiates and I find I’m often referencing resources and ideas she’s shared with me each day in my own work.
